Benefits:
What I really like about this software is that it eliminates the use of programmatic application coding for different platforms which are; Android, iOS and Windows Phone. I highly recommend this software.
Drawbacks:
I do not have anything that I like least about this software. Everything they offer is best in the World of Internet.
In sum:
Great Software.

Benefits:
Being able to leverage native APIs from a JavaScript context meant being able to quickly covert correct web app code into a mobile app.
Drawbacks:
There are a lot of quirks that have to be worked out if you get too complex with your app functionality and if you do get complex then you are generally on your own to resolve these quirks.
In sum:
I have had a lot of fun converting web apps to native apps with PhoneGap.

I've been using this way of building simple apps for years, more than 10, and relied on the PhoneGap Build service to build the packages.
Drawbacks:
Unfortunately, PhoneGap Build to create the packages no longer works and had to opt for another service, with relative code conversion
In sum:
I've always enjoyed it, too bad they don't keep developing and updating Phonegap Build
