The crew based scheduling is likely the most useful part of the program. We are easily able to build and change crews on the fly, on a daily basis. Exporting scheduling assignments directly to B2W Tracks is also handy as it makes the Foreman's job to fill out their paperless timesheet very easy.

The only two downsides to this program are that there isnt an easy way to distinguish between day and nights (different colours on the schedule would be key), and the reports are not very customizable. We run both day and night shifts daily, and they often roll the next days dayshift on the same report as tonight's night shift.

The speed of the system is an issue when adding to the schedule as each action requires the system to refresh. The inability to "move" multiple crew assignments or production targets simultaneously. Should be able to "select" multiple and move all at once. Need to add the ability to use Schedule for aggregate, asphalt and concrete manufacturing facilities including mix designs and inventories.

Summary:

The system has reduced the number of emergencies that result from poor planning.

The first issue- by only having a 2 week view of the current schedule is the biggest limitation of this platform. We plan jobs 2-8 weeks out, or more at times, and using Schedule for navigating into the future weeks/months is basically impossible without having 2 large monitor screens and constantly fast forwarding in 2 week increments. Its extremely inefficient. The second issue- it's inability of moving multiple jobs at a time. If today was a rain day, we need to manually move forward one job at a time. Since we plan jobs out so far in advance, this is extremely time consuming and inefficient.

Unfortunately I cannot give this platform rave reviews, like I have with other B2W platforms. Due to the cons I noted, I don't think we will be using Schedule for next season. We've created so many other workarounds just to get B2W Schedule to work for us; the cons definitely outweigh the pros. Which is unfortunate, since I had high hopes for using the complete B2W suite of products. Unless the cons I noted are resolved, this will be the one and only season to use Schedule.
