CampusVue

Benefits:

CampusVue has been great in terms of their ability to keep up with federal regulatory changes. This is vital to our business as we need to be able to process Title IV financial aid for students. The SIS allows us to manage the entire life cycle for a student from inquiry to a gainfully employed status.

Drawbacks:

The UI has not changed much and is a bit outdated. Certain menu items and functions are places you would not expect. The cost to run CampusVue is on the higher side compared to alternatives.

Benefits:

It was user friendly, it also had a help box that answered most of your questions. Another feature is that your mistakes that you made were fixable, not permanent. It held a lot of information. I used the software in a college in Kentucky for several years, and also in the State of Nevada. It was easy to access, and get to the information you needed in a quick amount of time. Very easy to train others how to use it.

Drawbacks:

It could of used a regular update service, that would make it faster and add more features that were specific to the types of colleges I worked at, such as one college was a career college, but also sold diploma's . There was no difference in the system. A lot of time the emergency phone system was unable to work correctly for technical difficulty reasons, that was frustrating.

In sum:

Campus Vue was over all an attribute the the college, it held a lot of information and was easily accessible. All the Instructor's used for grading, attendance, reason for failing a class , address and phone contacts. It also had an emergency system. Recording a wealth of information on each and every student.

Benefits:

The system requirements of this are not that extensive and most computers can run this pretty easily.

Drawbacks:

This program can be pretty difficult to navigate. There isn't much for guides and it looks like it should run on DOS. The organization and the steps required to be able to log things into this are also extensive and difficult and don't flow very well.

Benefits:

Great campus management system. Extremely efficient

Drawbacks:

expensive but good software to effectively manage your campus

Benefits:

i liked most about the program was its ability to utilize a very simple interface which allowed easier capabilities of switching possible sales to other sales associates. i always liked just how simple it was to use.

Drawbacks:

it was just too limited, to describe what someone wanted we utilized software that just offered few options, it was maybe 5 options to categorize people, and the management staff took these things to heart, if we had more options to qualify people it would be even easier.

Benefits:

I like the software for the records management piece.

Drawbacks:

I come at my role more from a customer relations perspective, and the system does not function well for that and the reporting does not support that need.

In sum:

I think my issue with CampusVue is that it does not fully fit my needs in a role of student support. This is designed more for records management, and less for student service and reporting abilities.

Benefits:

customization, detail with notes by actual user, automatic emails, contact manager for time utilization, report detail

Drawbacks:

multiple steps in some respect for certain activities, the way reports print via CVUE info-could be consolidated more (but there is the ability to convert to Excel).

In sum:

management of campus activities and overall recordkeeping

Benefits:

I liked that you can see what other departments had done for a student. I also liked that you could add generic activities (I.e. email, comment, etc).

Drawbacks:

With all software there were struggles with functions at first, but it definitely got better.

Benefits:

I liked the note taking feature. I was easily able to see notes for a student from everyone that was in contact with them. I also liked how each department had different permissions: one department couldn't see another departments information. That was good and bad, but that was the Universities choice.

Drawbacks:

Running reports was not the easiest. Each report I ran gave me a different answer. It was not as clean of a process as I thought it should be.

In sum:

I became a subject matter expert for CampusVue. I actually liked the functionality of it and how it tracked information. I thought it was very easy. I do wish it would have been able to track internship hours like I needed it to rather than me having to do it on a spreadsheet.

Benefits:

The customer service is the best. they will look at your issue and if they cant walk you through a solution they will take care of it on their end..

Drawbacks:

There may be a few too many functions. This is a software that you can learn something new everyday you have it and still not know everything.
