Using Google Drive, I use this platform within my classroom and within parent groups to help sharing and editing of documents in a place that can easily be accessed. This program is perfect for that.

Drawbacks:

Layout and design seems quite basic at times and is limited, but for collaborative purposes that might not matter.

My school library extended, with [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] collection it is growing daily...but if I've not time to sit and read, use Overdrive to listen, Having the books in e audio and e books format support my way of learning and reading. They access library card access help me to bring my collection from my own library into a single app. Overdrive has load of self help title which are all in e-audio formats. Love this. Given many books are in the e-pub format, there is additional ease for enlarging the words and pages.

I find it very difficult for new user to make sense of the Kindle app. It's not intuitive, it should be easier. The apple (ipad) and Android(google play) are so much easier to use. I prefer a full month for loan as compared to 21 days, I am not a speed reader. I am busy and sometime need some more time. I hate having a book 75% read, then losing the setting becuase the books gets checked out after 14 days, and I have to start over from my new loan.

Summary:

Well when a library is loaded, free, multi formatted and with e-audio all with my library card. Then the experience has to be great!

Benefits:

Excellent and secure storage solution that makes my document easy to store.

Drawbacks:

When synchronised it takes huge time to open large files.

We used Google Custom Search and were really disappointed when Google dropped paid support. We changed to Swiftype and are very happy. It has given us the similar functionality with improved UI. The UI for optimizing the search is really easy to use yet powerful.

1. Reports provided are too limited in time span covered to be helpful. 2. Company said number of documents we wanted indexed exceeded our quota and would result in higher cost at next renewal. This conflicted with our own records, so we repeatedly asked for a list of the pages being indexed. We got lots of emails and telephone conferences and promises, but we never got the list. 3. Swiftype seemed to have something to hide. We would talk with them about above indexing issue, and they said they would get back to us soon. But they didn't. They seemed to forget about us. I guess they were hoping we would just go away. 4. The last month or more, most of our searches were spam bot searches for non-existent domain names. This made our reports really worthless. (We have not had this problem anywhere else on our sites.)

Our overall experience with Swiftype was really negative. A big waste of our time and money. After waiting for them to follow up on our last conference call, we switched to Google Custom Search Engine. It turned out to be far less expensive than we thought. Swiftype is a bad investment if you have lots of files to be indexed but far fewer monthly searches. Google Custom Search now works well for us -- at a tiny fraction of Swiftype's annual cost.
