Benefits:
Workflowengine.io is powerful, flexible and extensible. The visual designer is a great tool, and makes it easy to quickly create and maintain workflows, which is critical to the architecture of our product. Support is prompt and comprehensive. We are very pleased with the quality of the software and the people behind it.
Drawbacks:
When we first started integrating the module into our system, the documentation was not great. We had to learn by trial, which took longer than we anticipated. However the product showed great potential so we endeavored to learn it, and we are very pleased with the result. The documentation provided has improved so I do not believe this would be a current concern for a new user.
In sum:
We utilize Workflowengine.io in our product to allow us to customize our system to integrate into our clients' environment. This way, our products fits into our clients' environment rather than forcing our clients to change their work processes to follow a system.

Benefits:
We love the flexibility, readiness to deploy and extensibility. We've developed a lot of new features on top of it, so you can do whatever you want with the engine.
Drawbacks:
Altought it has been shown to be flexible, it has some rigidity when it comes to creating new functionality. Often times we seek for workarounds to avoid messing with the core.
In sum:
Creating a new product with built in workflow engine in half the time.
